Description
The US Air Force BLU-137/B is a 2,000-lb (1,000 kg) class penetrator warhead being developed since 2015 to hit bunker and other hardened targets. The BLU-137/B penetrator warhead will be deployed along with a new GPS-based Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) tail guidance kit developed by Boeing. The BLU-137/B improved penetrator design is optimized to protect the bomb fuze when impacting against hardened targets. The new bunker buster was ready for deployment and mass production in June 2018 with an initial order for 600 warheads with options for up to 7,000 units.
