Zhanshi
Zhanshi

The Zhanshi, 'Warrior' in English, is a third generation 4x4 light tactical vehicle developed and produced in the People's Republic of China (PRC) for its Armed Forces. The PRC's People's Liberation Army (PLA) issued the initial requirement in 2002 and the Dongfeng Motor Corporation (DFMC) Zhanshi was ready for production in December 2006 after the construction of 63 prototypes. The tactical vehicle is very similar in shape and performance to the United States Army Humvee and actually some sources suggest that the vehicle was developed based on the very Humvee design. This high mobility vehicle is powered by a Cummins V4 supercharged diesel engine developing 112-Kw and allowing a top speed of 150 kph on road. There are several versions using the same chassis: topless, hard top, soft top, fastback soft, had top van, high hard top etc. The lighter version of the vehicle without top weighs 1.5 tons. The vehicle can airlifted by fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft.
