Description

The RIR 778C is an early warning radar system operating in the C band (IEEE designation) or G band (NATO designation), covering frequencies from 5.4 to 5.9 GHz. With a peak power of 1 MW, a range resolution of 3 meters, and a beamwidth of 1°, it was primarily used in scientific and military applications to gather precise data on aircraft during flight tests for high-speed aerial vehicle development. Its 29-foot (approximately 8.8 m) parabolic reflector, originally a Cassegrain antenna, was later modernized to utilize a splash plate feed, with evidence of the original auxiliary reflector brackets still visible. A co-axial telescopic camera is integrated via a circular aperture on the right side of the antenna.
