Active Phased Array Radar APAR
The Active Phased Array Radar (APAR) is a naval I-band multifunction radar developed through a trilateral program involving the Netherlands, Germany, and Canada, with Thales Nederland as the prime contractor. It provides capabilities essential for modern missile defense, including pulse compression, target detection and tracking, and control for multiple missiles using mid-course guidance and terminal homing. The system also features continuous-wave generation and illumination. Each of the radar's four faces, which together provide 360-degree coverage, contains 3,424 transmit/receive elements, ensuring a powerful and redundant architecture with an instrumented range of 150 km.
