Description
The Al Zubarah and Al Wajbah are two new variants of the VBCI 8x8 armored vehicle customized to meet the requirements of the Qatari Armed Forces and developed under the Al Rayyan program. The Al Zubarah variant is fitted with a 40mm CTA cannon and the Al Wajbah is equipped with a Kongsberg 30mm medium caliber turret. On March 13, 2018, Qatar signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for up to 490 VBCI based vehicles to be supplied to its Armed Forces through 2026. Barzan Holdings, Nexter and Kongsberg will form the industrial partnership to supply these vehicles beginning by 2019.
