Description

The Theater High-Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) is a ground based system designed to destroy a wide variety of theater ballistic missiles. The THAAD consists of a hit-to-kill missile, radar; launcher, and BMC3 (Battle Management Command, Control, and Communications) system. The THAAD system provides the first capability against long-range ballistic missiles. It will be capable of counter such missiles at long ranges avoiding the effects of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) payloads on battlefield troops and civilian populations.
