Description
The Mig-48 is a single engine, carrier-based, supersonic drone intended to supplement the Mig-49 carrier fighter aircraft by performing air refueling and strike missions. The Mig-48 design is based upon the Skat drone developed by Mig in the early 2000s and will feature an inverted V tail. Bombs and missile would be transported using an internal weapons bay as well as external hard points. The new heavy drone development along the carrier-based Mig-49 was announced after the MAKS airshow in Moscow in July 2021. The Mig-48 is expected to perform its maiden flight in 2023-2024 and achieve initial operational capability by 2028-2030.
