Project 23130
Project 23130
The Project 23130 is a new medium-sized tanker designed to provide replenishment of the Russian Navy surface ships and submarines during wartime or peacetime. The new resupply vessel should be able to store and transport fuel as well as dry cargo. The technical specifications of the new tanker are 130 meter long, 14,000 tons full load displacement, maximum range of 8,000 nautical miles, capable of operating up to 60 days at sea without refueling and a crew of 24-man. The Russian Ministry of Defense announced the tender for the Project 23130 tanker in early September 2013 with a contractor to be selected by the end of the same month. The estimated cost of each ship is 3.06 billion Rubles. The first Project 23130 tanker is expected to be delivered to the Russian Navy before October 2016. The new replenishment ship is clearly designed to support the Russian Navy fleet deployments worldwide in the near future. The lead ship was commissioned in January 2020. As of 2023, the Russian Navy plans call for the procurement of six ships by 2030 to support continous fleet deployments all over the world.
