The Ural-63095 Typhoon-U, also known as Ural-ZA or Taifun-U, is a high mobility, single body, armored truck developed to meet the requirements of the Russian Army for an all-terrain protected vehicle. The 24-ton armored vehicle utilizes a 6x6 wheeled chassis fitted with special laminated composite armor plates combining steel and ceramic to provide all-round ballistic protection against small arms fire for the crew, troops and cargo up to 14.5mm piercing ammunition. Besides, it can withstand the effects of anti-tank mine blasts of up to eight kilograms of TNT as well as the improvised explosive devices (IEDs) under its hull. The truck features variable ground clearance and a roof-mounted remote weapon station with a machine gun that can be operated from the cab. The Russian Army was actively testing the Typhoon armored truck in early 2012. The Russian Ministry of Defense has already confirmed that will field the Typhoon armored truck with an initial order for 30 vehicles placed in 2013. The first production Taifun-U armored vehicles are expected to debut during the May 9, 2015 at the Victory Parade in Moscow. The Ural-63095 mine resistant, ambush protected truck has been designed for operations at temperatures between +50 Celsius to -50 Celsius at altitudes up to 4,500 meters above sea level. The vehicle can operate at extreme conditions such as 100% humidity and temperate +25 Celsius, air dustiness of 1.5 g/m3, wind velocity 20 m/s, and atmospheric precipitation rate of 180 mm/h. The Ural-63095 truck is powered by a YAMZ-5367 diesel engine rated at 450-hp (331 KW) allowing a top speed of 105 kph. The vehicle can cross ranges of 1,800 kilometers utilizing two 300-liter fuel tanks. The vehicle can be equipped with a roof-mounted weapon station armed with a 7.62mm or a 12.7mm machine gun.
