The Russian Army Sova-SBRM is a combat surveillance vehicle capable of providing an anti-intrusion and monitoring network when deployed in large numbers. It is installed on the GAZ-233036 Tigr 4x4 tactical vehicle chassis. The Sova-SBRM system allows for detection and monitoring of several moving targets while providing clues about its trajectories. The sensor package has been designed to recognize the frequencies of a number of sound vibrations including those produced by helicopters, fixed-wing aircraft and armored vehicles. The Sova-SBRM was developed by the Almaz-Antey Concern in Tula undergoing test in 2013-2015. It was deployed by the Russian Armed Forces for the first time in late 2015 and early 2016 to protect the Hmeymim airbase in Syria. The sensor suite includes 50-80 magnetic, seismic and acoustic devices that can be controlled remotely with a maximum detection range of up to 15 kilometers with an accuracy of 2-degree. The Sova-SBRM vehicle is equipped with a telescopic antenna with an operational range of 40 kilometers along with eight-channel electro-optical suite combining video cameras, thermal imager and laser range finders. The vehicle is also equipped with two mini-drones with a flight time of 60 minutes.
