Description
The US Coast Guard’s Fast Response Cutter (FRC), also known as Sentinel class, is patrol ship class based upon Damen Shipyard’s design and built in the United States by Bollinger Shipyards. The propulsions system consists of two MTU diesel engines each developing 5,800-shp and allowing a top speed of 28 knots. The vessel is armed with a single Mk 38 Mod 2 25mm machine gun and optionally can be equipped with four 12.7mm machine guns. The USCG has plans for the procurement of up to 71 FRC vessels by the late 2020s. The first FRC was commissioned in 2012. In April 2026, the US Coast Guard elevated the program's scope to 77 units.
