WJ-600

The WJ-600 is an Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV) developed by China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC) and unveiled during the China Airshow 2010. The jet-powered aircraft can be armed with underwing missiles and bombs to conduct ground attack missions and features a cylindrical shaped body. CASIC claims that the WJ-600 can be equipped with opto-electronic reconnaissance, synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and electronic surveillance to provide all-weather reconnaissance and battle damage assessment. Besides, the aircraft can also load electronic warfare, communications relay, and target simulation equipment. The WJ-600 can achieve an airspeed of 200 meters per second (720 kph) and sustain a loitering speed of only 30 meters per second (108 kph) flying at altitudes of up to 10,000 meters. The aircraft has a maximum range of 2,100 kilometers carrying a payload below 600 kg. It can be armed with KD-2 missiles, TB1 anti-tank missiles (similar to US Hellfire), ZD-1 bombs and FT-6 small diameter bombs. Overall, the WJ-600 unmanned air vehicle (UAV) seems to be a turbojet powered counterpart of the MQ-1 Predator designed to take out armored targets and fortifications as well as performing intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) missions.
