Description

The Paveway IV is a precision guided, fire and forget bomb being developed under the British Precision Guided Bomb (PGB) program. It will feature a second generation GPS guidance system with anti-spoofing and anti-jamming technology in order to achieve enhanced accuracy and reliability. The new bomb will be able to operate in day/night, all weather conditions, and intense countermeasures environments offering minimized collateral damage. The Paveway IV bomb will enter service with the Royal Air Force (RAF) by 2006 replacing the most part of guided and unguided bombs currently deployed in the United Kingdom. Paveway IV bomb export sales are anticipated. In June 2005, BAE Systems announced that integration work of Paveway IV smart bomb on the Harrier aircraft was under way as part of Harrier GR 9/9A program.
