Description

IAI-RAMTA's RAM-2000 is a high-performance, multi-purpose, 2x2 or 4x4 light armored vehicle equipped with a robust and flexible structure that allows it to be configured and outfitted to perform a wide range of missions. All-terrain capability, a high power-to-weight ratio, and excellent armored protection allow RAM-2000 to perform as recon vehicle, light IFV, weapons platform, troop carrier, tank hunter-killer, command platform, transporter, riot control vehicle, etc. Up to eight fully equipped personnel, commander and driver can be carried in a single vehicle. Design simplicity is meant to achieve reduced maintenance and high mission-ready availability even in the toughest operating conditions. Excellent on/off road mobility and enhanced maneuverability are in aid of the mission success, as well as low profile and low center of gravity for better survivability. In addition, it can ford water obstacles and can airlifted by both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft. The RAM-2000 armor provides full ballistic protection from fire arms up to 7.62mm ammunition. Add-on armor for increased protection is also possible depending on the customer requirements. The mono-hull construction coupled with geometric shaping deflects energy blasts and waves from mine detonations and explosive munitions. Moreover, the hull design minimizes overturning under combat conditions. IAI-TAMAN's Plug-in Optronic Payload 200, AKA POP200, reconnaissance/surveillance system can be integrated into RAM-2000 offering true day/night surveillance capability. This combination is specially suitable for border security and law enforcement operated by both police and military units. Mounted on the Giraffe telescopic mast the POP200 can be raised up to a 11 meters height for long range surveillance. POP200 can host CCD-TV, laser pointer, laser rangefinder and FLIR easily interchangeable payloads and operated under armor by a single crewmember. The RAM Mk3 AT or RAM AT is a tank hunter/killer version equipped with four Nimrod SR missiles and unveiled in March 2012.
