Stryker A1
The US Army Stryker A1 is an upgrade package applied to flat bottom Stryker armored vehicles providing combat-proven double-V hull (DVH) configuration which translates into enhanced survivability against mines and improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Besides, the Stryker A1 upgrade provides a more powerful 450-hp diesel engine, a 60,000 pounds (30-ton) suspension, 910-Amp alternator and in-vehicle network. The first production contract for 450 DVH Stryker vehicles was awarded to General Dynamics in 2010. In 2011 the US Army ordered an additional 232 DVH Stryker vehicles to be delivered in seven configurations. The 682 DVH Stryker armored vehicles were intended to equip two Stryker brigades. The Stryker A1 modernization program is being carried out by General Dynamics Land systems since 2016 with approximately 331 upgraded vehicles ordered in October 2016 (215) and June 2018 (116). In October 2018 the US Army ordered the upgrade of 173 additional vehicles. The upgrade kit is being applied primarily to Stryker Infantry Carrier Variants (ICVs). In June 2023, the US Army ordered 300 additional Stryker A1 vehicles under a $712 million deal.
