Description
The HN-6 Chinese Man-Portable Air Defense System (MANPADS) is a modern era man portable SAM system of Chinese origin. It was developed in parallel with the Chinese QW series to replace the older HN-5 series. In Chinese service it is known as the HongYang-6, which stands for "Red Tassel 6". This was later changed to HN-6. The export designation is FeiNu-6, which stands for "Flying Crossbow". The HN-6 is in Chinese service and available for export as the FN-6. It has been exported to a handful of nations, mostly located in Asia.

Variants
FN-6
The export-designated FN-6 entered service in approximately 1999-2000 as China's most advanced shoulder-fired surface-to-air missile offered on the international market. This third-generation system features passive infrared homing with all-aspect attack capability and anti-infrared jamming resistance.
FN-6A
Vehicle-mounted version: First publicly revealed in 2005, mounting the system on a 4x4 light tactical vehicle.
FN-16
The FN-16 MANPAD missile is a kind of new generation low altitude and short range air defense weapon upgraded from FN-6. The missile employs IR and UV dual color homing guidance seeker, the combination of laser proximity fuse and impact fuse. It has all-direction attack, anti-infrared decoy and “fire-and-forget” capabilities. It is used to intercept various types of attack helicopter, fixed-wing aircraft, cruise missile and UAV.
