Description

The Sajil is a two-stage, solid-propellant, medium range ballistic missile (MRBM) developed by Iran to hit targets at ranges of up to 2,000 kilometers (or 2,500 km). This solid fuel ballistic missile represents a leap forward in ballistic technology and operational readiness compared to liquid fuel technology. The Sajil would permit Iran to hit targets in Israel and Southeastern Europe. The missile was first test-fired in November 2008 from the border city of Marivan in the Western province of Kurdistan. A second successful test firing was carried out in May 2009. The second generation Sejjil missile entered into mass production in 2013.
