Description
The AN/APX-90 was an airborne secondary surveillance radar (SSR) transponder, manufactured by Hazeltine, operating in the L-band (IEEE designation) or D-band (NATO designation) at frequencies of 1030 MHz and 1090 MHz. It was designed to meet the ICAO Mark X standard and was notable as one of the first transponders to incorporate antenna diversity, utilizing the Hartlobe system. Introduced around 1967, the unit had a peak power of 800 W and required a DC power supply of 17 to 30 volts, with a power consumption of approximately 80 watts.
