LAV-300
The Cadillac Gage Textron LAV-300 is a family of low silhouette, light armored vehicles including up to 15 configurations such as command, armored personnel carrier, TOW missile, logistics, ambulance and recovery vehicle. It is based on a 6x6 amphibious chassis. LAV-300 offers high mobility, speeds of up to 65 mph (100+ kph) and can be air-transported by C-5 Galaxy, C-141 Starlifter, C-17 Globemaster III and C-130 Hercules aircraft. Some versions can be air-transported by CH-53E helicopter. The vehicle's survivability comes from a combination of low silhouette and high-hardness steel armor which can withstand impacts of ammunition up to 7.62mm. Armor floor plate protects the crew from landmines and fragmentation hand grenades blasts. Besides, the vehicle can receive add-on armor plates for enhanced protection against ballistic impacts. Integration of low observable technologies is being offered by Textron to achieve further survivability through minimizing infrared, acoustic and seismic signatures. A wide range of armed turrets is available for the LAV-300 combining a 7.62mm machine gun with .50 caliber (12.7mm), 25mm, 30mm or 40mm guns. A 20mm anti-aircraft gun turret is also available. For engagement of heavy armored vehicles LAV-300 can rely on a TOW anti-tank guided missile or a 90mm gun turret. Finally, two additional turrets mount provide 81mm and 120mm mortars. As of 2005 Cadillac Gage Textron is marketing a LAV-300 improved variant know as the LAV-300 MK II.
