Description

The Black Shark Advanced (BSA) is a heavyweight torpedo produced by WASS and featuring a new Lithium-Polymer Battery. The first test launch of the BSA called 'Short-Fire' was carried out in the La Spezia Gulf on January 28, 2014, by the Italian Navy submarine Scire (U212 class). The BSA was launched in 'Push Out' mode: water ram expulsion system which ejects the torpedo by means of high water pressure. The Italian Navy plans call for the entry into service of the new heavyweight torpedo by 2015 as replacement for the older A-184 heavyweight torpedo provide to Italy's submarine fleet.
