Description
The Type 625 is an advanced mobile air defense system combining a six-barrel 25mm gun with eight short-range surface-to-air missiles to take down primarily drones as well as helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. The system can engage cruise missiles as well. The Type 625 vehicle’s turret is equipped with a search and target acquisition radar and electro-optical (EO) sensors. The Type 625 air defense vehicle uses an 8x8 wheeled chassis evolved from the ZBL-08 armored vehicle. The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) unveiled the new weapon system in 2023 and can be considered the Chinese equivalent of the Russian Pantsir weapon system.
