Variants
SandCat Gen 1 The SandCat Gen 1 is the original variant of the SandCat family. Very few of the vehicles were produced and the main users are the Swedish police and some elements of Israel’s special forces and border forces.
SandCat Gen 2 The SandCat Gen 2 series was really the first production standard SandCat. It is similar to the Gen 1 and features moderate changes to the automotive components and external appearance.
SandCat Gen 3 The SandCat Gen 3 followed an upgrade to the commercial chassis and was originally aimed at police force, it improves on the payload of the Gen 2 platforms and mobility and the chassis can be used to accommodate alternative weapon systems.
SandCat, Tank Destroyer The SandCat Gen 3 can be configured – in its flatbed configuration – to perform as a tank destroyer. For this the rear of the vehicle is modified to accommodate a guided missile launcher and storage for additional missiles.
SandCat, Indirect fire support The SandCat Gen 3 can also be configured – in its flatbed configuration – as an indirect fire support vehicle. For this role it is fitted with a mortar that is mounted on the flatbed at the rear of the hull. The mortar fires over the rear of the vehicle and the cab is retained from the Gen 3 design.
SandCat Granite The IDF’s SandCat Granite is a Gen2 SandCat fitted out with an ELTA-supplied intelligence gathering sensor suite.
