Description

The Prompt Global Strike (PGS) is a United States (US) Navy program aimed at delivering a hypersonic strike weapon capable of being launched from multiple sea, air and land platforms. The initial approach is to get the weapon to be launched from underwater submarines as well as surface ships. The new hypersonic would be able to hit any target on the globe in a span of less than one hour. Basically the PGS weapon will be a booster carrying a hypersonic glider with a conventional or nuclear warhead. Its development was made public in November 2018 and is expected to be employed by the US Air Force and the US Army as well.
