Description
The Otvet is an anti-submarine weapon system designed to engage stealth and highly maneuverable submarines and underwater unmanned vehicles. The system uses the ship’s sonars and helicopter’s dipping sonar systems to identify the potential target. The Otvet missile is launched from the 3S-14 universal launcher. The missile follows a ballistic trajectory to hit targets at distances between 5 kilometers and 40-50 kilometers releasing a MPT-1UM torpedo using a parachute at a distance between 300-500 meters from the submerged target. The Otvet missile was first test fired in 2019 and entered service with the Russian Navy in November 2020.
