Description

The WOLF is a 4x4, 6-10-tonc class, multi-purpose armored vehicle with a high degree of flexibility thanks to its interior design. It has been built utilizing a low-cost Ford Motor commercial 4x4 chassis with an automatic gearbox driven by a diesel engine. The vehicle's armor and design offers a high degree of protection. It has been approved by the Israel Ministry of Defense and is available in troop carrier, command vehicle, rescue vehicle, logistics support and ambulance configurations. The WOLF has a seating capacity for up to 11-man. Early in 2005, the Israel Ministry of Defense placed a $14 million order for WOLF light armored vehicles (LAV). These vehicles will serve to replace aging light vehicles used by the Armed Forces of Israel. The WOLF production was established to be done at the Hatehof company, now Carmor Integrated Vehicle Solutions, in Israel a partner to Rafael which developed the vehicle. These vehicles can be fitted with a Remote Controlled Weapon Station (RCWS) adding fire support capability to the vehicle with crew protected under armor. The first WOLF light armored vehicle was handed over to the Israel Defense Force (IDF) on Thursday, July 14, 2005 at Rafael facilities in Haifa. To date, Israel has ordered WOLF vehicles worth roughly $20 million.
