Description

The Indian Air Force Fifth Generation Fighter Aircraft (FGFA) is a twin-seat variant of the PAK FA/T-50/Su-57 stealth fighter aircraft. In addition of being provide with two tandem seats the new aircraft will feature a new wing design to load more weaponry. The FGFA is a further development involving Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) of India. The aircraft is envisaged as a follow-on to the successful Su-30MKI operated by the Indian Air Force with its mission profile focusing on the air-to-ground engagement as part of the aerial supremacy doctrine of India. The FGFA is expected to enter service by the mid 2020 after the entry into service Russian Air Force Su-57 in 2019-2021 timeframe. The entire project is in question with the current scope being 127 fighters from an initially planned 250 aircraft. Nevertheless the program may collapse depending on the negotiations between Russia and India.
