Description

The MOBAT (MOBile ArTillery) is a highly mobile, shoot and scoot, truck-mounted 105mm howitzer specially designed for rapid deployment missions. It comprises a 105mm 33-caliber M101 howitzer and a 4-5 tons all-terrain military truck. The MOBAT gun has a maximum range of 14.4 km with unassisted shells and 19.6 km when firing assisted ammunition. The whole artillery system can be transported in a C-130-sized aircraft and by CH-47 and CH-53 helicopters as slung load. The MOBAT artillery system has been selected by Jordan through a contract for 18 MOBATs with options for another 20 systems. Deliveries of the 18 MOBATs ordered by Jordan are due in 2004.
