The MN-79 Vietnamese Anti-Personnel Mine is a high-explosive (HE), cylindrical, plastic-bodied, anti-personnel (AP), landmine that is designed to wound or kill by its blast effect a copy of the American M14.

Design The upper edge of the landmine body has a ‘K’ to indicate safe and an ‘M’ to indicate armed when the yellow arrow is pointing at it. The bottom of the landmine has a cavity to insert the detonator assembly. MN-79 is embossed on the base, with a lot number stencilled in yellow.
Pressure Plate A pressure of 9 kg will depress the pressure plate causing the Belleville spring to snap into reverse and drive the firing pin into the percussion cap. A spark is sent into the detonator initiating the explosive main charge.
