Description
The 65-76A Kit, Whale in English, self-homing torpedo is an upgraded version of the 65-76 torpedo developed by the former Soviet Union. It entered service with the Russian Navy in 1991 featuring extended range and increased warhead. The 65-76A torpedoes are fitted with a 550 kg High Explosive (HE) warhead and the homing system combines both active and passive sonar with wire guidance. The Kit torpedo achieves a top speed of 50 knots and a maximum range of 62 nautical miles (+110 kilometers).
