Description
The Islamic Republic of Iran Navy's Tondar, 'Thunderbolt' in English, is an attack hovercraft designed to launch anti-ship missiles and release unmanned air vehicles (UAVs). The Tondar has been developed by the Islamic Republic of Iran under its domestic weapons program started in 1992 as a response to the United States arms embargo. This craft can be used for coastal patrols, offensive reconnaissance, military transport and sea-rescue missions. The Tondar hovercraft was unveiled during an official ceremony at the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas on November 12, 2012.
