Description
The Thalun, also known as FF-135, is a class of multi-purpose, stealth frigates being built by Myanmar Naval Dockyard for the Myanmar Navy. The weapon system is expected to include a 76mm naval gun with 3-4 close-in weapon systems, two triple torpedo launchers, two RBU-6000 anti-submarine rockets systems, anti-ship missiles and vertical launch surface-to-air missiles. The propulsion system is expected to be based upon a CODOG arrangement. The new frigate is also provided with flight deck and hangar allowing for operation of a single Ka-27/Ka-28 helicopter. The first Thalun frigate construction started in 2017 and is expected to be commissioned in 2025 or 2026.
