Description

The KMO is a 155mm self-propelled howitzer (SPH) developed by Aselsan and Turkish Army AFGM based upon existing Panter 155mm towed howitzer mounted on a 6x6 truck system. The resulting artillery system leverages the same characteristics of the Panter howitzer plus improved mobility provided by the cross-country truck system. Aselsan provided a fire control system (FCS) coupled with inertial navigation system (INS) to the same standard of the T-155 Firtina tracked SPH. A single KMO artillery system has enough room to carry 21 155mm projectiles with their respective modular charge systems (MCS). The KMO can be ready to fire in just one minute at ranges of up to 40 kilometers with a maximum rate of fire of six rounds per minute. The KMO was unveiled at the IDEF exhibition in May 2017.
