Description

The Elbit Systems Skylark C is a highly autonomous mini UAS designed for tactical naval and maritime applications conducting organic maritime intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR) missions. The system features a waterproof and floating air vehicle and will allow inspecting and observing maritime and/or coastal activities from a safe distance. The Skylark C mini-UAV can be deployed and retrieved by the same surface vessel in less than 15 minutes by a crew of two-man. The air vehicle is released using a catapult and retrieved by means of a parachute or optionally a ship-based net. The Skylark C was introduced by Elbit Systems in August 2016. The Skylark C air vehicle is electrically powered delivering very low visual and acoustic signatures making it especially well suited for special naval operations, border security, anti-terrorism and anti-piracy operations. The air vehicle is fitted with an inertial navigation system (INS) and a stabilized electro-optical (EO) payload with a high resolution thermal imager and color daylight camera. The EO payload enables real-time day/night monitoring even in adverse weather conditions.
