Description
The Falcon 9 Block 5 is the latest variant of the Falcon 9 space launch system fully powered by the latest version of the Merlin 1D engines providing outstanding thrust to place into orbit heavier payloads. The first rocket powered by the Merlin 1D engines was introduced in December 2015 and was able to carry a payload of 22,800 to Low Earth Orbit (LEO) or 8,300 kg to Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO). Besides, the rocket can transport a payload of 4,020 kg to Mars. The Falcon 9 Block 5 was introduced in May 2018 and features improved landing legs at the base of the rocket allowing to land on floating platforms.
