N011
The N011 "Bars" (Cyrillic: Н011 «БАРС», meaning "leopard") is an X-band (IEEE designation) or I-band (NATO designation) airborne Pulse-Doppler radar system developed by NIIP. Designed for the Sukhoi Su-27, Su-30, and Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29 aircraft, it features both air-to-air and air-to-ground modes, including terrain following/avoidance, mapping, and a target illuminator for semi-active missiles. The radar utilizes a 0.9-meter diameter slotted flat-plate phased array antenna, mechanically steerable up to ±55 degrees off-boresight, which, combined with electronic beam steering, provides a total azimuth field of regard of ±100 degrees and full forward hemispherical coverage. With an average power of 1.2 kW and an instrumented range of 140 km (76 NM), its air-to-air capabilities include Track While Scan (TWS) for 15 targets with simultaneous engagement of four, raid assessment, and Non-Cooperative Target Recognition; air-to-ground modes offer real beam mapping, Doppler beam sharpening, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imaging, Ground/Maritime Moving Target Indicator (GMTI/MMTI), target position measurement, and GMTI tracking for two concurrent targets.
