Description
The Haeseong II is a supersonic, ship-launched, land attack cruise missile developed by the Republic of Korea (RoK) to hit time sensitive targets in North Korea such as ballistic missile launch pads. The missile inherits some technologies from the Haeseong I anti-ship cruise missile and was developed without technical foreign assistance. The RoK has banned any potential export order for this critical weapon system. The Haeseong II with an estimated range of 500 kilometers cruises at a speed of more than Mach 1+ after being launched from a surface ship vertical launch system (VLS). The Republic of Korea Navy (RoKN) plans for the Haeseong II land attack cruise missile in the 2013-2014 timeframe.
