Description

The Finnish Navy Hameenmaa is a class of minelayers capable of operating in all sea conditions with outstanding reliability, which was one of the ship's design goals, and designed as well to serve as support ship as secondary mission role in the Baltic Sea area. These ships are powered by two diesel engines and two shafts developing 6,300-hp of power and a top speed of 19 knots. These ships are fitted with the TRS-3D radar, Simrad hull-mounted sonar, six Mistral surface-to-air missiles, two 40mm Mk3 gun systems, two dual 23mm anti-aircraft guns, two RBU-1200 anti-submarine warfare (ASW) rocket launcher and 100 to 150 sea mines. The Finnish Navy received two ships in 1992 which were modernized in 2007. A third vessels is under construction and scheduled for delivery in 2013.
