Description
The AN/TPQ-37 Firefinder is an S-band battlefield radar with an instrumented range of 60 km. It is designed to detect incoming projectiles and accurately determine their point of origin. The system is operated by a four-soldier crew and can be transported by C-17 aircraft, with battlefield mobility provided by two Family of Medium Tactical Vehicle trucks. The U.S. Army began fielding 12 Quick Reaction Capability AN/TPQ-53 radars in July 2011 to replace the aging AN/TPQ-36 and AN/TPQ-37 medium-range mortar radars.
