AV4

The AV4 4x4 is a multipurpose light armored wheeled vehicle designed, developed and manufactured by DEFTECH in Malaysia to meet the requirements of military and police customers during combat, law enforcement and peacekeeping operations. The platform is fully compliant with NATO standards and incorporates Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) for high reliability and ease of maintenance worldwide. Its modular design allows to assume a variety of roles such as Armored Personnel Carrier (APC), police vehicle, missile and weapon carrier, command & control vehicle, battlefield surveillance vehicle and ambulance. The 7-ton class AV4 light armored vehicle was unveiled at the Defence Services Asia 2006 exhibition and has been evaluated by the Malaysian Army and the Royal Malaysian Police. The AV-4 is powered by an MTU 4R 106 TD21 Euro 3 compliant diesel turbocharged intercooled engine developing 160 KW and a top speed of 110 kilometers per hour on road. The vehicle can be equipped with a roof-mounted 7.62mm machine gun or an automatic grenade launcher. The vehicle's hull provides a ballistic protection equivalent to NATO STANAG 4569 Level 2 and STANAG Level 2b against mines both can be upgraded to Level 4 and Level 3a respectively.
