Description

The US Air Force plans for an engine replacement for the B-52H strategic bomber are expected to be completed by 2030. Besides, the bomber will get the AN/APG-79 AESA radar system and other upgrades to extend its service life beyond 2050. The B-52J with the new F130 engine is expected to take to the skies in 2027 and achieve initial operational capability in 2030. The B-52s are expected to phase out by 2060.
