Pantsir-SM-SV

The Pantsir-SM-SV is a new variant of the Pantsir-SM deployed onto a tracked chassis and featuring two new missiles and sensors. The Pantsir-SM-SV has a maximum engagement range of 60-70 kilometers utilizing hypersonic surface-to-air missiles. The new weapon system is expected to be hard to detect by hostile suppression of air defense systems. The Pantsir-SM-SV armored chassis suggests that the system may be deployed along frontline troops replacing the Tunguska ground-based air defense system. The Pantsir-SM-SV weapon system was ready for testing in December 2021. The new air defense system uses a high mobility GM-352ME1 tracked chassis and the 1RS2-3 radar system along 12 tube-launched missiles. The Russian Armed Forces began taking delivery of the new Pantsir-SM-SV air defense systems in March 2025.
