Description

The Elettra is a multirole ship designed to provide electronic intelligence capabilities in support of Italian and NATO ships. It can perform a wide spectrum of missions such as information and logistics in support of special operations, search and rescue, electronic and acoustic signals assessment, bottom of the sea and oceanographic research. The Elettra multirole support ship was commissioned by the Italian Navy in April 2003. In addition to its outstanding Electronic Intelligence gear, the Elettra features two 25mm machine guns for self-defense purposes and a rear flight deck that could be employed to deploy Unmanned Aircraft Vehicles (UAVs).
