Description

The Shahed 171, 'Witness 171' in English, is a turbojet-powered reconnaissance unmanned air vehicle (UAV) developed by Iran under its weapons program started in 1992 as a response to the United States arms embargo. The Shahed 171 has benefited from the US Air Force RQ-170 drone that Iran captured in 2011. The Iranian drone seems to be a copy of the US aircraft. The Shahed 171 is the drone shoot down by the Israeli Air Force during an incident in February 2018 across the Syrian border and supposedly used by Iran to conduct spy missions over Israel.
