Description
M1992 North Korean 30mm Self-Propelled Anti-Aircraft Gun is based on the ZSU-23-4 Shilka chassis. This vehicle was first observed in 1992. It was developed as a replacement for the older twin 37 mm SPAAG. It is worth mentioning that in the 1980s North Korea produced a significant amount of self-propelled artillery, mating towed artillery tubes with chassis already in service. Unlike most North Korean adaptations, the M1992 may have improved performance over the original type. This anti-aircraft artillery system was produced in quantity, however, it is unknown how many of them were built.

Hull Armor
Thin armor of the ZSU-23-4 provides only limited protection against small arms fire and artillery shell splinters. It has been reported that sides of this vehicle can be penetrated by standard Soviet 7.62x39 mm rounds fired from assault rifle. Though front arc withstands this ammunition.
