AN/SPG-55
The AN/SPG-55 was a naval tracking and illumination radar, first deployed in 1961, and subsequently modified multiple times, with the latest variant designated Mod 10. Operating within the C-band (5,400–5,900 MHz) with a peak power of 1 MW, it featured a pulse repetition frequency of 427 Hz and pulsewidths of 0.1, 12, or 13 microseconds, providing an instrumented range of 148 nautical miles (275 km) and a beamwidth of 1.6 degrees. This radar was an integral component of the Mk 76 missile fire control system, utilized for target tracking and missile guidance for Terrier, Standard SM-1, and Standard SM-2 surface-to-air missile systems on numerous ships of the US and allied navies. It incorporated a C-band pulse transmitter and receiver for target tracking, alongside an X-band continuous-wave transmitter for target illumination and a receiver for Doppler target tracking.
