The BREM-L is a lightweight recovery vehicle derived from the BMP-3 tracked infantry fighting vehicle chassis. The BREM-L is intended to remove damaged armored vehicles from the battlefield or to provide assistance to armored vehicles when field repair and maintenance are required. Its mission range includes: extraction of bogged-in vehicles, self-extraction in case of bogged-in, towing of damaged vehicles in rough terrain or afloat, repair works for vehicle evacuation, hoisting operations including turrets and power packs, moving with a weight on the crane hook, conveyance of spare parts, and excavation works. The BREM-L leverages the mobility, protection and survivability characteristics from the BMP-3 vehicle family. The BREM-L is suitable for amphibious operations at Sea State 3 using a telescopic air intake. The vehicle's crew consists of three-man with two auxiliary seats. It is powered by UTD-29T multi-fuel, liquid cooled diesel engine developing 450-hp of power and allowing a top speed of 70 kilometers per hour on road or 45 kilometers per hour cross country. The BREM-L speed when towing a damaged vehicle is limited to 20 kilometers per hour. It is equipped with a hydraulic crane, a hydraulic pulling winch, hydraulic plow-dozer for excavation works, electric welding equipment for cutting metal, and a single PKTM 7.62mm machine gun for self-defense purposes only.
