Description

The Ataka-VM/Shturm-SM, 9K132 industrial code, is a modernized version of the Shturm-Ataka supersonic anti-tank missile system developed in the late 1980s and upgraded by KBM in 2012. The new anti-tank weapon features day/night capability in all weather conditions compared with the Shturm-S weapon. The laser-guided Shturm-SM can be released from airborne (helicopters), land and sea platforms. Its warhead has been optimized for the destruction of heavy armored tanks, fortified structures and low speed, low altitude flying aircraft such as helicopters and/or Unmaned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) at ranges of up to 6,000 meters. The Russian Army accepted the new Shturm-SM weapon system on December 5, 2012.
