Description

The Medium Range Anti Tank (MRAT) OMTAS missile is designed to provide dismounted Turkish infantrymen with the ability to stop heavy armored vehicles from safe ranges of up to 4,000 meters. The OMTAS missile system will be used on a tripod or a land vehicle and could be fired from enclosures. It will also provide direct and top attack modes, fire-and-forget and fire-and-update firing modes, which can be selected on the weapon system before firing. Roketsan is developing OMTAS based on the technology used on the UMTAS missile. OMTAS guidance system is suitable for day and night and adverse weahter conditions combining an infrared imaging seeker, inertial measurement unit, and a two-way RF data-link which allows to update the target. In order to increase the hit probability, it has lock-on after launch capability. The OMTAS will be fitted with a tandem warhead capable of penetrating explosive reactive armor (ERA) protected vehicles.
