Description

The IoSiS (Imaging of Satellites in Space) is an experimental X-band early warning radar operating at 10.2 GHz, designed for imaging satellites in Low Earth Orbit (LEO). It features a large 9-meter Cassegrain antenna that functions as both a target tracking and illuminating radar for a planned swarm of passive, bistatic receiving antennas, each with a 1.8-meter reflector. The system currently includes two operational receive channels positioned on either side of the main Cassegrain antenna, and its 8 kW peak power (500 W average power) is generated by a traveling wave tube (TWT) with a bandwidth of approximately 4.4 GHz. This experimental radar was developed to practically demonstrate the application of the Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar (ISAR) method for satellite tracking, offering a range resolution of 34 mm with a pulsewidth of up to 50 µs.
