NH90 TFRA Standard 2

The NH90 TFRA Standard 2 is a variant of the NH90 TTH transport helicopter intended to fulfill the requirements of the French Special Forces. The upgraded helicopter features improved situational awareness in poor visibility conditions. The helicopter is fitted with a nose-mounted EUROFLIR 410 electro-optical sensor along a Distributed Aperture System (DAS) generating a 3D digital map that is available for the pilots through the helmet mounted display (HMSD-DD). The rear ramp is equipped with quick removable leaf doors and a fast roping system which along the lateral doors allow for rapid deployment of the Special Forces troops. The lateral doors will be equipped with two M3M 12.7mm machine guns. Besides, the NH90 TFRA will be provided with a 500 kilogram external fuel tank to extend its radius of operation. In October 12, 2020, the NATO Helicopter Management Agency (NAHEMA) signed a contract with NH Industries for the delivery of 10 upgraded NH90 TTH helicopters, already on order, to the TFRA standard with deliveries beginning in 2025.
